Founders' Letter

We are thrilled to extend a warm invitation to this extraordinary adventure with Camp Dominica – a haven for adventure and diving enthusiasts set amidst the breath-taking backdrop of our island.

Adam, an avid free diver, has worked closely with Saving The Blue, The Watermen Project and leads expeditions around the world including in Sri Lanka, Maldives and Mexico. He was part of the first ever free dive expedition to Western Greenland and can be found on shark tagging around the world, most recently in Jupiter, Florida.

Jackson grew up splitting his time between London and Dominica and has watched it grow and change across his lifetime. His fascination with the ocean was kindled through the impactful work his family has undertaken over the years, most recently in the set-up of Common Earth, the facilitation of CETI in Dominica and the formation of the Commonwealth Blue Charter. With a keen eye for detail and an avid interest in safeguarding Dominica’s future, Jackson seeks to help develop Dominica in a sustainable way that benefits the island and its people as a whole.

Through their shared passion, Jackson and Adam came together and founded Camp Dominica and it’s Diving With Giants expeditions.

A few words from Jackson and Adam ;

In founding Camp Dominica we hope to bring people together to explore and experience this unique and precious corner of the earth. To share with you all that The Nature Island has to offer: black sand beaches, boiling lakes, hot springs, cascading waterfalls and thick rich rainforest sprawling across most of the island’s mountainous typography, this rugged unspoilt eden truly is a place like no other. All of this interconnected by Dominica’s life blood;  it’s network of 365 rivers that course their way through the island, as high up as the UNESCO site at Monre Trois Pitons - through mountainous jungle, down through the Layou river and out into to the Caribbean sea.

Here we find not only the rich marine life, most notably the sperm whale, but also some of the most coveted free diving in the world - Soufriere in the south of the island is littered with underwater caves and reefs revered throughout the world for their unique wonder.

In starting Camp Dominica and our Diving With Giants expeditions, we not only hope to bring international interest to the shores of the island, but also to champion the cause of ocean conservation in a way that harmonises with the island's rich natural heritage.

Driven by a shared mission to preserve the beauty of our oceans and create unforgettable experiences, Our Diving with Giants trips seek to bring imagination into reality, chase the thrill of the perfect interaction and come together to share ideas and outlooks on what the future of our oceans and planet and what we can do to shape and safeguard that future.

As you may know, Dominica is one of only two places in the world you can see Sperm Whales all year round; they are resident to our waters due many factors, most notably our incredibly deep shelves so close to shore, providing the perfect habitat to birth and teach their young in a sheltered environment. They are our welcomed family and our protected friends. Dominica has worked with National Geographic to create the world’s first Sperm Whale Sanctuary - by changing shipping lanes, in turn, diverting shipping tankers and strictly controlling the access to these majestic creatures, a real start has been made in safeguarding these stunning and unique giants of the deep.

Our charitable partners Common Earth have been integral in shaping some of Dominica’s recent conservation achievements and regenerative redevelopment; they were pivotal in helping facilitate CETI’s involvement and subsequent research in Dominica and have been large drivers in positive change across the island, and for those with a keen interest in this side of things we can offer an array of guests across the trip from marine biologists, members of the Common Earth team and much more.

All of our expeditions contain a core schedule and structure however they are of course bespoke and can be tailored to the individual desires and interests of the groups.

We have brought together a brilliant team to help ensure you experience the best that this rugged, exciting and beautiful place has to offer but with all of the comforts of home. Our magnificent private chef will keep you well fed, the Relais & Chateau estate, voted best in The Caribbean five years running, will keep you restored and our brilliant yoga instructor will ensure you stay in tip top shape!

We hope you leave us restored and refreshed, with a sense of peace and wellbeing but inspired, enriched by a knowledge and understanding of what is possible when we come together to enjoy the best nature has to offer.

Please join us in this island paradise for an unforgettable week of exploration, relaxation and discovery.

Thank you.
